Duo Naima, founded in Belgium in 2021, is an artistic collaboration between Italian flute player Dario Caporuscio and Ukrainian guitarist Maria Shevchenko. The duo is distinguished by a diverse repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary compositions, with a particular focus on reinterpreting traditional music.
In 2022, the duo won the second prize in the chamber music category of the 2nd Swiss International Music Competition. The following year, they were selected by the festival Nei Suoni Dei Luoghi to give a recital in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy. From 2023 to 2025, they pursued chamber music studies at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, Belgium, as Maria’s master’s program. The duo successfully completed the course with the recital “Der Wanderer and the Traveler”, a musical journey with the composers Cipriano De Rore (1515-1565), Franz Schubert (1797-1828) and Roland Dyens (1955-2016) that reflects on how the concept and perception of travel have transformed over the centuries. In 2025, this recital was presented in various concerts in France and Belgium, including the festival Spots Op West in Westouter, Belgium, organized by Open Doek. In 2025, the duo was awarded the “Ukrainian Voices” prize for their projects in support of Ukraine.
